Inside the Lab
Where creativity meets analytical rigor. We brew transparently and share our process so enthusiasts and brewers can learn, replicate, and iterate.
Saskatoon Beer Lab is a microbrewery founded by scientists and self-proclaimed nerds with a shared passion for beer and innovation. Our approach blends the craft of brewing with the precision of measurement. Transparency sits at the core, we practice open-source brewing, publishing recipes and analytics for anyone to explore.
Our in-house lab sets us apart. With a High-Performance Liquid Chromatograph (HPLC) and an Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrophotometer (ICP-OES), we analyze bittering compounds, off-flavours, aroma profiles, and water quality to ensure every batch meets exacting standards.

- Methodical brewing. Trials, controls, and reproducible notes because delicious should also be defensible.
- Dialed-in water. Mineral profiles tuned to style; consistency locked in batch-to-batch.
- Analytical checks. Bittering, aroma, and trace metals validated with lab instrumentation.
- Sustainability-minded. Spent malt becomes nutrient-rich flour. Value-added, not waste.
